How long have you been in the business as a building inspection company?

As in most professions experience is very important. Inspex has been in the residential and commercial inspection business since 1991.

Do you carry Errors and Omissions Insurance; do you carry General Liability Insurance?

Inspex carries Errors and Omissions Insurance and General Liability Insurance; proof of insurance will be provided upon request.

Are you involved with or associated with any other business?

Inspex is not involved in any other business. In accordance with the ASHI® Standards of Practice, Inspex does not participate in any construction related activities. It represents a conflict of interest.

Do you encourage the client to attend the inspection?

The buyer should always try to attend the inspection. Buyers that attend have a better understanding of the property as viewed by the inspector and are better able to read and interpret the final report. The buyer's attendance also helps them understand the scope of a building inspection as well as the limitations.

What inspection services do you offer?

Inspex offers full building inspections, wood destroying insect certification (commonly called termite inspection), and radon testing. Go to the

How soon can you typically schedule an inspection?

An inspection can usually be scheduled within one or two days.

How long will the inspection take?

A typical inspection will take roughly 2-3 hours.

Are you experienced in building inspections and how many building inspections have you performed?

Our company has extensive experience in performing building inspections and has performed thousands of residential and commercial building inspections.

Are you a certified member of the American Society of Home Inspectors® (ASHI®) and what is ASHI?

Inspex is a fully certified member of ASHI®. The American Society of Home Inspectors®, founded in 1976 is the oldest and most respected international professional organization of independent building consultants and home inspectors in North America. Its Standards of Practice and strict Code of Ethics are benchmarks of professional performance in the field.

To become a Member of ASHI, an inspector must meet rigorous professional and technical requirements, including the successful completion of two comprehensive exams. In addition, he or she must perform at least 250 fee paid inspections that meet or exceed the ASHI Standards of Practice.

Real estate attorneys and real estate brokers recommend that all home buyers have their prospective property examined by an independent building consultant or home inspector prior to the final purchase commitment. These experts recognize that ASHI membership is assurance of an inspector's competent and professionalism.

How much will the inspection cost?

The inspection fees vary depending on the property and for the services being contracted. Call Inspex at (201) 792-0888 for a specific quotation.

What will the inspection report include?

Our comprehensive inspection report covers the following: structural components, exterior, electrical system, plumbing system, domestic hot water, heating system, air conditioning, roof, attic-insulation, kitchens, bathroom, interior, and other mechanical and physical features. The report is typically over 20 pages long and includes a Report Summary (itemizing major deficiencies), Estimated Repair Costs, Color Photos Of Deficiencies, and Illustrations.

Does the report conform to ASHI® Standards?

Yes, our reports not only conform to but exceed the ASHI® Standards of Practice.

Can we see a sample of your report?

Yes; see the INSPECTION REPORT to view sample pages of the building inspection report.

How soon is the report available?

The 20+ page report is typically available within 2-3 days of the inspection. The report is then faxed to the client and the client's attorney and hard copies are mailed.
